Owner Larry Hughes

Welcome! I discovered a passion for fine food and good wine at an early age; however circumstances led me to the corporate world to pursue a career. I was fortunate to be able to travel extensively and sample great food and wine in many countries worldwide. Then in 2005 I decided it was time to make a change and left the safety of the corporate surroundings behind. In between traveling and golfing I went about finding an opportunity to own and operate a restaurant. I was fortunate enough to be a customer of Richie & Mary Ann’s and realized what a great dining experience they had created. After a few month's of talking I purchased the business and Chef Mary Ann stayed on to help with the transition, along with son David and daughter Jaime. They wanted to carry on the family culinary tradition. Today, Jamie is our head chef.

I wanted to own a place that reflected my image of excellent dining - the freshest ingredients with quality preparation. Excellent wines that really work in concert with the cuisine. I love a warm, inviting ambience, and great service at a relaxed, leisurely pace. So eventually “THAT ITALIAN PLACE” was born!

I enjoy being in the restaurant business. The staff enjoys bringing you the wonderful food, as well as providing excellent service. Chef Jaime encourages you to order exactly what you want, as every dish is made from scratch, to order. My goal is still the same, to operate a restaurant serving outstanding food at a fair price. My love of wine is reflected in our creative and unique list. I hope you find a bottle or two you enjoy. If you have any questions or just want to compare notes please feel free to ask for me.
